Impact test, Charpy test, specifies impact strength

The Charpy V-notch impact test according to ISO 148-1:2009 is the method we use to determine a material’s impact strength, i.e. the material’s ability to absorb impact load.

Connections and other material for steel structures must, according to EN 1090, have and be able to demonstrate an impact strength of 27 joule at -20°C. This applies to several different property classes, including 8.8.

In addition to strength, impact strength is a very important aspect during procurements for EN 1090.

We manufacture the test specimens in our own mechanical workshop according to standard ISO 148-1:2009.
