EPD - Environmental Product Declarations

What is an EPD?

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a document that transparently communicates the environmental performance or impact of a product or material throughout its lifecycle.

For a construction product, an EPD summarizes the results of a life cycle assessment in a condensed format. The information in an EPD is primarily based on the product's life cycle assessment.

EPDs are typically valid for three to five years and must comply with the standard for the sustainability of construction works, environmental declarations, and product-specific rules (SS-EN 15804:2012+A2:2019). Environmental Product Declarations are reviewed and approved through independent verification, ensuring that the information is reliable.

NFG's EPD Work

At Nordic Fastening Group, we continuously develop new EPDs for our various product groups or specific customer-unique EPDs.

Our factory in Poland has produced four EPDs for all our carbon steel products, with or without surface treatments.

We use ONECLICK LCA software for creating EPDs, and through EPDHUB, these are third-party verified and published in their registry.

GWP CO₂/kg - Fasteners

As a reseller of fasteners sourcing from multiple suppliers, we cannot create general EPDs for products from different manufacturers under the PCR rules for an EPD. Therefore, NFG currently refers customers to the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building, and Planning's climate database, which provides climate data for calculations in climate declarations.
